Unlike Disney, there are many attractions at Universal that do not allow bags or loose items. For the coasters you will walk through a metal detector before getting in line. For these rides and others that do not allow bags, you will need to use one of the free lockers available at the ride entrance. Here is the kicker, the lockers are small! Because of the size of the lockers, you will need to make sure not to overpack your park bag and most importantly, use a small bag. Don’t worry, I will give you all the best options for the type of bags that are perfect for Universal!
The free lockers located at the attraction entrances are approximately 14in. X 5.5in X 16.9in. Yes, you read that correctly, the free lockers are only five and a half inches tall. There are larger lockers available to rent for $2 while you ride if you need them. There will be an additional charge for extra time. There are all-day lockers available at the front of the park and these are larger and can fit your bag and all of your souvenirs. There are also family-sized lockers located at the front of the parks as well.
Best Bags for Universal
The best Universal Orlando park bag will be something small and easily manipulated to fit the lockers. If you intend to use the free attraction lockers I have listed below the park bags I believe are the best for your visit to Universal Studios Orlando!
Fanny Pack / Waist Pack
In my opinion, this is the best option if you are wanting to avoid needing a locker as much as possible! You will be allowed to wear a fanny pack on most attractions except the ones with metal detectors. If you don’t have many things to carry into the parks this will probably be the easiest most convenient option for you! Below I have linked a great option from Amazon, this waist pack has lots of storage and can fit all your essentials like keys, wallet, etc.
A drawstring backpack is my preferred bag for Universal because it is small and easily manipulated to fit the lockers! I can fit my larger items in it like my Coca-Cola Freestyle cup, interactive wand, portable fan during warm months, and jacket during cold months. Below is the drawstring bag that I currently use. I prefer this bag because of the pocket on the outside that allows easy access to smaller items! It also has a variety of colors to choose from!
Now, loungefly bags aren’t the BEST option, however, they are small and with a little manipulating you can fit them in the lockers. I know many people collect loungeflys and they are a fashion staple in the Florida theme parks! The main issue you will run into with these bags is they are typically too wide to fit. If your bag isn’t full you should be able to squish it enough to fit. Below is a few super adorable Harry Potter loungefly bags that I am obsessed with! I have also linked a Spiderman loungefly that I love! These bags are all on Amazon as well!
This bag is great for Universal if you don’t prefer a waist pack or drawstring bag! It has so many pockets to hold all your things and it even has a pocket to hold your water bottle or Freestyle cup!
Park Bag Essentials
Now, what should you put in your Universal Orlando park bag? What you should pack in your park bag fully depends on what season you will be traveling to Universal. - Wand (a good wizard always has their wand on them)
